The University Boulevard bike lane project got a shout out from Montgomery County’s planning department when Director Gwen Wright praised the project in her weekly remarks to the Planning Board last Thursday:
Wright described the lanes, which are slated to begin this June, as being “definitely part of the Thrive Montgomery ideal of planning for people, not cars,” referring to the county’s master plan that she and her staff have been working to rewrite this past year.
“We are super excited and we want to thank the citizen activists who have pushed this through,” she added. “We think it might be a model for what we want to do in other parts of the county as well.”
You can listen to her remarks here, with the University Boulevard mention beginning around minute 54:00.
